GenHyFlex

The aim of this project was to develop a careers ecosystem to support transition year (TY) students in learning about career and education pathways in an experiential way. The careers ecosystem provides the learner with real life learning opportunities, industry mentors, masterclasses, industry projects and a collaborative social learning system. The TY student works with peers to complete industry challenges. The TY student will have a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in that area and the opportunities for the career as well as the third level programmes that will help them reach their goals. The GenHyFlex app connects the team and allows them to work in a flexible way. Team communication can be managed in-app on the go. Each student will have personalised features to help them prioritise the tasks and learning that they need to complete each week and journal their learning. They will be awarded badges for specific skills and power-ups when they take on additional roles and extra opportunities to collaborate on projects. This experience will help learners build important 21st century skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, design thinking and digital skills. They will also produce an ePortolio with industry endorsements.
