The collection, Briviba is the Latvian name for freedom, a nod to my Lativan heritage. Inspired by the free-flowing movement of hot air balloons and Kǒngmíng lanterns, this collection references these structured forms that guide us with light through an unstructured journey of discovery. The Kǒngmíng lanterns were originally used in China for signalling danger ahead, however down through the centuries, they have been used to celebrate festivals and happy events. Lanterns are used to mark the beginning of a Chinese New Year and symbolise many things including good health, luck, or fortune. The Briviba collection aims to bring a sense of calm and flow by incorporating an influence from their structure and shape and guiding the wearer through life’s obstacles.
