Zig is a collection of signature shaped luxury coats taking inspiration from 1980’s fashion. The power suit of the 80’s communicated the female mission to compete in the male dominated business world with women finding themselves working in high powered jobs and dressing to be taking seriously. I also took inspiration from David Bowie, who, alongside his influential music, was also revered for his funky blazers and ties and I have worked this element of fantastical fashion to compliment the classic cuts within the collection. Sustainability is a core value for my brand. This collection is constructed with deadstock cotton canvas fabrics and circularity is addressed with the decorative feature of manipulated discarded men’s ties sourced from staff within the college. In her spare time, my customer paints on canvas whilst drinking red wine. She seeks out the coolest statement pieces to complement her wardrobe of quality classics. She is a master at discovering vintage designer finds in thrift stores and is adorned in a collection of chunky silver jewellery that she wears every day. She enjoys afterwork drinks in the city with friends. Chunky sunglasses are her thing. Her energy is intriguing. Everybody who meets her wants to be her.
